OUR TRAINING

Equipping Every Adult in Your School to Notice, Listen and Act

DM Website Sections Images.png

Most staff want to check in when a student seems off. The hesitation isn't lack of care. It's not knowing how to start, how to end the conversation safely, or when to pass what they've heard on to a Safeguarding Lead.

©SAFE Conversations gives every member of staff a clear, practical framework for checking in with any student, parent or colleague, confidently and appropriately, wherever they are in the school.

Why This Matters

When staff don't feel confident checking in, concerns go unnoticed. When they don't know where the threshold is, they either dig too deep or hold back information that a Safeguarding Lead needs to hear.

©SAFE Conversations addresses both risks: - Staff who don't teach a student, or work in a different part of the school, often hold back from checking in at all. - Staff who know a student well can unintentionally overstep, asking too much or deciding to manage the situation themselves rather than passing it on. - Without a clear framework, even well-meaning conversations can delay intervention or compromise what happens next. Every adult in your school has a safeguarding role. This training makes sure they can fulfil it.

What Does SAFE Stand For?

EMPOWERING

Remember, this is YOUR work but THEIR LIFE. The child's voice, experience and wellbeing remain central throughout the process.

FACTUAL

Ask students RIGHT Questions in the RIGHT Way.  Structured questioning gathers accurate information without leading, suggesting or influencing.

ACCESSIBLE

Meet the needs of THAT child.  The approach is adapted to their age, development, culture, language acquisition and individual needs.

STRATEGIC

Keep the child protection inquiry child-focused. Every decision is made in the best interests of the child.
